3.2. Study population and other factors influencing dogs’ activity
Table 2. Results from the best fitting multivariable regression models assessing the influence of dog-related factors and population (FRDD dogs in Guatemala and Indonesia, Swiss farm and Swiss family dogs) on the four outcomes (sum of BarkPoints over 24 h and percentage of time dogs spent resting, 'moderate' and 'high' activity). The study population variable was tested and presented separately for each variable level as reference.

Assessment and Management of Declining Physical Function in Aging Dogs
2022, Topics in Companion Animal MedicineCitation Excerpt :Most companion dogs are completely dependent on their owners for food, shelter, healthcare, and other necessities. Variables which influence the care provided can impact the health and function of aging dogs.50,54,55 If, for example, owners do not have the time, inclination, or opportunity to provide regular exercise to their dogs, then these dogs may not be able to engage in adequate physical activity.
Spatial and temporal activity patterns of owned, free-roaming dogs in coastal eastern Australia
2022, Preventive Veterinary MedicineCitation Excerpt :Like Kennedy et al. (2018) and Maher et al. (2019), we found owned dogs exhibited two peak activity periods between 0700 and 1000 and 1600 and 1900 hr. Our morning peak was later than, and the evening peak identical to those found by Griss et al. (2021) for samples of four populations of owned dogs (i.e. 0500–0700 hr and 1600–1900 hr, respectively). Using camera trap data, Zanin et al. (2019) identified three core activity periods in Brazil, while Sparkes et al. (2016) found owned dogs were generally more active during daylight periods (0700 −1700 hr).
